The Hudson Maher Foundation Board
Brett and Tanya Maher – Directors Founders of the Hudson Maher Foundation. They began the foundation in memory of their son, Hudson, who passed away after having a bone marrow transplant. They felt a need to help others cope financially and emotionally with similar crises.
Brian Ferrari – Chairperson Brian began as deputy chairperson but was thrust into the chairman's role on April 4th, 2005 after the untimely death of our much-loved inaugural chairman, Bernie Lewis, in a plane crash. Brian is on the board of the Adelaide 36ers (the basketball club Brett plays for) and he felt a close bond towards Brett and Tanya and their family throughout Hudson's illness. Brian owns Ferrari Formalwear, a clothing business that hires and sells suits for weddings, school formals etc. He is an invaluable, original board member and is passionate about helping the Foundation achieve its goals.
Jeremy Schultz – Secretary Jeremy is a partner in the law firm Finlaysons and is heavily involved with the Adelaide 36ers board. In this latter capacity, he witnessed firsthand the heartache that Brett, Tanya and Cheyenne endured through the loss Hudson, and wanted to help in any way he could. Jeremy donates his time as well as office space to the Hudson Maher Foundation.
Paul Finlay – Treasurer Paul owns his own accounting firm and, as with the other board members, was exposed to the pain and suffering endured by the Mahers during Hudson's fight through his support of the Adelaide 36ers basketball team. He selflessly donates his time and abilities to the Foundation, and is a regular contributor of items for our fundraising silent auctions.
Ron Barton Ron began with the foundation in Nov 2004. The board felt the need to have someone without basketball ties. Ron is an invaluable member who is eager to support the foundation. He owns a courier business, Yellow Corporation and was a sponsor of the Adelaide Crows. Ron left the foundation in June 2006 due to increasing commitment from his work. He still wants to be updated on all our activities and will help in any way possible in the future.
Mark Lewis Mark joined the foundation in April 2005 after the death of his father and mother, Bernie and Christine, in early 2005. Bernie and Chris were avid fans of the Adelaide 36ers, and Bernie was quite passionate about helping the Mahers cope with their grief and begin the Foundation. Mark is now determined to keep Bernie and Christine's memory alive by supporting the cause that they so avidly supported. Mark is a director of Bernie Lewis Home Loans, an extremely successful home loan broking company established by Bernie.
Peter WithyPeter joined us in November 2006. In a business sense he is the co-founder of KWP! Advertising along with Andrew Killey. He has been in the business of ideas for over 35 years and currently works nationally and locally with clients like South Australian Tourism, Coopers, Yalumba, RAA, Clipsal 500, The Advertiser and around 20 others. Peter's role is that of a working Creative Director which means not only does he vet the work but also helps create the work. The best thing that Peter will bring to the board is his fresh thinking.
Bob Jones
Bob also joined the Foundation in April 2005, after hearing of Bernie's death and wanting to assist the Foundation he so loved in any way possible. Bob is the CEO of Elders Rural Bank. He will be an invaluable asset for the Foundaiton through his numerous business connections.
Doug Stevens
We'd like to welcome Doug on the board. Our newest member only just joined the HMF board two months ago. Doug is the state manager for Henley Properties here in South Australia. He is an enthusiastic addition and has many contacts through numerous business associations. His zest and enthusiasm will be invaluable.
