Hundreds touch lives in brilliant disguise at 2006 HMF Ball We're delighted to report that the 2006 HMF Maskeraid Ball was an absolutely magical night and fantastic fundraising success.
Nearly 40,000 was generated through a combination of ticket sales and major and silent auctions, which the Foundation will of course put towards vital support for families of children coping with bone marrow disease.
Held on June 24 at the luxurious Stamford Grand, Glenelg, the function was not only a cullinary feast, but also a visual one. All attendees were resplendent in lavish masquerade-theme costumes, including 36ers coach Phil Smyth, 36er Willie Farley and his wife Timiza, and Adelaide Crow Trent Hentschell. We were also extremely pleased to have in attendance Cheryl and Lindsay Dowsett, parents of Jamie, who have recently been beneficiaries of HMF support.
Adding to the atmosphere was a huge painting of a Venitian street scene, hung as a stunning backdrop to the main stage, generously donated by Backdrops Fantastic. And two incredible ice sculptures of masquerade masks were very kindly donated by Ice Occasions.
Similarly, the entertainment was also of an extremely high standard. Celebrity MC Tony Pilkington again donated his time to manage proceedings, and Michael Brock of Brock Partners Real Estate again expertly wielded the auctioneer's hammer. Local cover-band Karbon Kopy kept the the dancefloor full and the mood upbeat, and tenor Antonio Villano brought the audience to its feet.
HMF would also like to extend special thanks to: - Dariusz from Videoplus, for the magnificent presentation of the room.
- Tanjung Rhu Resort and Janet Chin, Tee Lee Travel, for again donating our major raffle prize.
- Geoff Pevrall, Coopers, for donating the beer.
- Jason Goodes, Independent Distillers, for donating the Vodka Cruisers.
- Belinda, Angove Winery, for their continued support.
- Amy Jay, for her organisational assistance.
