Chairman of the HMF Fraz turns 70
November was a busy month with Brian Ferrari turning the big 70. Instead of gifts Brian felt donations to the foundation would be nice, little did he know how supportive, generous, caring his family and friends would be when the final tally of over $9000 was presented to the foundation. WOW, thanks Fraz you are an amazingly generous person and we are honoured that you are a part of the "HMF family". Thank you to all that donated you too are fantastic.
The AM Institute and IFS Charity Lunch – Nov 26th 2010 .
The Australasian Mutuals Institute and Institute of Financial Services Charity Auction and Raffle Luncheon has been held for the past two years in November and Mark Lewis has attended previously. Being on the board of the HMF he nominated the foundation to be recipients for the 2010 luncheon and the committee elected to support the Hudson Maher Foundation. The past two luncheons had raised in excess of $9000 and they wanted to match if not increase on this amount. Nikki Barns worked tirelessly to organise the event which was held on the Friday Nov 26th and the day included some fantastic raffle and auction items. Their was over 120 guests and an awesome $10114 was raised from the day. A massive thanks to The AM Institue and IFS, Nikki Barns, MC Lisa McAskill, Troy Chaplin and all that donated items and bought auction items on the day... Thanks
Hudson Maher Foundation Newsletter. We have had another successful year at the HMF.
We could not have done it without the help of everyone.
The big, bumper issue of Hands-on Help is here.
During the month of June The Good Guys Mile End celebrated the milestone of raising more than $34,000 for the Hudson Maher Foundation.
Over the past three years Mile End store owner David Brooks and his team have donated 20 cents from every transaction to the HMF to support children requiring bone marrow transplants inter and intra state and equipment and services needed by the WCH for these families.
Having been active in the Adelaide Basketball community for many years, David Brooks saw first-hand the devastating effect of the bone marrow disease that Hudson Maher, son of former Adelaide 36er captain and Olympian Brett Maher had and which finally took his life.
" I have always admired their ability to rise above their personal tragedy and work towards helping others who are suffering as they did" David said. David describes the experience of getting to know the Mahers and helping with the foundations fundraising as an honour.
" They are kind and generous people and having them as part of the Good Guys family is a joy, " he said
The HMF want to say a MASSIVE THANKS to David Brooks The Good Guys Mile End for his ongoing support to the HMF and Brett and Tany throughout the 3 years in both raising much needed awareness and his amazing donation to the foundation.
